Political satire came into its own in the Georgian Period in England with William Hogarth having led the way in the early 18th century and James Gillray taking up the torch after. It was a time of caustic political and social commentary, and figures such as these were not uncommon. These metal statuettes/candlesticks wear period costumes. Their faces are typical of the caricatures depicted in cartoons of the era… exaggerated and comical.

Dimension:

Approximately 10 1/2 x 4 1/2”

Condition: These statuettes are in fair original condition. There is damage to the umbrella positioned behind one of them. The tip has been broken off. Please see photos for detail. Otherwise, they show signs of wear consistent with their age.
