A rare hand colored Besler etching from the famous Hortus Eystetterisis Book, published by Eichstaett & Nuernberg, from the Prince Bishop of Bavaria. "Lilium Cruentum Polyanthos" c. 1613, 17th century German.
These botanicals took Besler over 16 years to produce. One of the most famous and wonderful book of prints ever made in the world on this subject.
The work is in excellent condition overall with wide margins. There are creases through the middle of the page and other minor creases throughout. Most notably the lower left corner. All consistent with age and medium. The text on verso has minimal bleed through to the front.
